In true tournament fashion, Alton Brown went big for tonight's Time Warp premiere, showcasing all-new sabotages worthy of the 1950s theme. After Chef Gentile, the winner of Heat 1, contended with a whopping four challenges, four that Alton thought were "all the interesting sabotages of the day," Alton took a tour of those challenges with judge Simon Majumdar during the After-Show to relive the competitor's eviliciousness escapades.
After checking out the phone booth and trying his hands — or, rather, his hips — at the Elvis-inspired stage, which made appearances in Rounds 1 and 2, respectively, Simon came face to face with Alton's Sputnik look-alike. Though Chef Gentile was forced to prep his TV dinner on that metal apparatus, Simon set out to make an egg on it — and indeed he succeeded. Simon's secret? "A dough fryer," according to Alton. After creating a rough, shaggy flour mixture, Simon used four pieces of dough to fashion "a little box," he said, and that would ultimately contain the egg. "See how it sizzles?" Simon asked enthusiastically after squirting oil inside his masterpiece. "You have created a dough fryer," Alton commended him, though the host was quick to point out to that some egg managed to dribble out of the dough wall.
