1 tablespoon vegetable oil

1 yellow onion, diced

1 green bell pepper, sliced

1 red bell pepper, sliced

1 pound sirloin steak, thinly sliced

Seasoned salt, such as Lawry's, to taste

2 slices provolone

2 slices white American cheese

1 hoagie roll, such as Amoroso's, cut in half lengthwise

2 tablespoons mayonnaise

Ketchup, for serving

Salt and freshly ground black pepper

  1. Heat the oil on a grill pan over medium heat. Add the onions and peppers and saute, stirring occasionally, until the vegetables begin to brown, about 4 minutes. Move the vegetables to one side, then add the sirloin steak and seasoned salt to taste and cook until the meat is no longer pink, 6 to 8 minutes.
  2. Form the cooked meat and veggies into a line about the length of the roll, and place both cheeses on top. When the cheese begins to melt, spread the mayonnaise on the hoagie roll and then place it on top of the cheesesteak. Scoop up the cheesesteak up with a spatula, add ketchup, salt and pepper to taste and serve immediately.
