Corn

Good deals are usually available for in-season ears of corn. Plus, when grilled with the husk on, they're nearly impossible to overcook — about 10 minutes per side to heat through. If children are present or there's a bigger turnout than expected, halve shucked ears crosswise after grilling.

Sirloin Steak

Stretch your dollar by threading cubes of steak onto a skewer along with fruits and vegetables like red onion, pineapple, bell pepper, mushrooms and cherry tomatoes. Marinate the steak for full flavor potential.

Watermelon

Do away with the hassle and cost of a plated dessert, and serve fresh wedges instead.

Tea Bags

Whip up a refreshing and inexpensive beverage such as iced or sweet tea.
