Kensington Palace made the exciting announcement that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are expecting their first child! Some of us have been hoping for this news for a while (we knew Meghan wore a coat to Princess Eugenie’s wedding last week for a reason!), so now we’re all very much focused ron all things royal baby, come spring!

As Duchess Meghan has a history of being both healthy and an avid foodie, we imagine she’s going to be pretty vigilant about eating right for her growing baby. Since this is her first child, we wouldn't be surprised if she’s taking some advice from her sister-in-law, Duchess Catherine of Cambridge. Kate has done this a few times! Who could forget her flawless post-pregnancy looks?

During Kate's pregnancies, she was known to eat hearty, healthy foods like avocados, berries, and oatmeal. She’s also known to eat ginger, which many women have found to be useful in fighting nausea during pregnancy. In fact, Prince William said that ginger cookies had been particularly useful for Kate. According to SELF, the Duchess also stuck to plant-based foods to ease her nausea.

And since there’s a fair chance Meghan Markle is also seeing the senior royal gynos — obstetrician Guy Thorpe-Beeston and consultant gynecologist Alan Farthing who delivered Kate’s babies — it’s likely her doctors will advise her to keep these foods in mind, especially if she is suffering from morning sickness like Kate did.

We also imagine Meghan, who loves yoga, may stick to a prenatal yoga routine — her sister-in-law can help there, as well. Hello! Magazine said in 2013 that Kate was working with a personal trainer to help teach her yoga and stretches when she was pregnant with Prince George. We can see Meghan following suit!

Meghan has a history of loving those very same healthy foods, especially avocados, but we hope she indulges at least a little. Kate has shared she had some weird cravings that she let herself indulge in: In fact, she shared a story of making her husband Prince William fetch a jar of pickles for her that she liked to cut into thin slices and enjoy on well-done toast. We'll be waiting to hear about Meghan's cravings!
