Duchess of Cambridge Spotted Doing Her Own Grocery Shopping
A week before giving birth, no less.
As you gear up for a new baby, you might stock up on groceries and plan ahead meals to feed your family while you are out of commission. Turns out the future Queen of England is just like us.
There’s a lot going on in the royal family right now. Grandpa (you might know him as Prince Philip) is recovering from hip surgery, and the in-laws (that’d be Prince Harry and Meghan Markle) are planning a not-so-intimate royal wedding. If that wasn’t enough, the former Kate Middleton, now known as Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge is pregnant with her third little prince or princess — and due have the baby in less than two weeks.
Of course, then, we were surprised to discover Kate was spotted this week at Waitrose — a neighborhood grocery store — picking up some produce for her family, all on her own.
"I was just in Waitrose doing a bit of shopping. I just went round the corner of the aisle and I saw her. I said to my husband, ‘That looks like Kate Middleton,’" a fellow shopper told the Daily Mail. "He said, ‘It's not,’ and I said, ‘It is.’"
Apparently, the shopper said hello to Kate, who went on to say hello back — making her polite, and thoughtful, because we really don’t love speaking to strangers while choosing our melons, and we’re not royalty.
Kate was doing her shopping on her own, and even went on to use the self-checkout and bag her own groceries before loading them in her Range Rover on her own, which is pretty impressive for a duchess, especially one that is nine months pregnant. Hello even reports that the famously thrifty duchess was seen buying a plant with a 25% off price tag.
Interestingly, Prince Harry has been spotted buying eggs at a Waitrose location near Kensington Palace, so if you are a royal watcher, this may be the ideal place to pick up your produce.
Royalty, they’re just like us…where’s our tiara, again?
