Recall: Make Sure Your Dole Salad Mix is Safe

The company is voluntarily recalling some Garden Classic Salad blends for possible listeria contamination. None of the recalled bags are still on grocery shelves but could be in home fridges.

As of October 29th, 2021 Dole is working with officials on a limited recall of certain Garden Classic Salad mixes that may be contaminated with listeria monocytogenes. The recall is completely voluntary and out of an abundance of caution. There have been no reported illnesses linked to any of the salads.

Is my salad bag part of the recall?

There are three pieces of information you'll need to determine if your salad is part of the recall: the lot code and Best if Used By date (located on the upper right corner of the bag) and the UPC code which is on the bottom left corner of the back of the bag. You can find specifics on the FDA's website. If your bag has matching lot code, Best if Used By date and UPC code then throw it away immediately.

This recall was put into motion after a random sample tested positive for Listeria by the Department of Agriculture in Georgia. There are currently 10 states affected by the recall.

Listeria monocytogenes is an organism that can cause very serious illness in young children, elderly people and those who have weakened immune systems. Infections can also be very serious for those who are pregnant. Symptoms include high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea.
