Cowboy Christmas

To celebrate the holidays, the Drummonds are throwing a big frontier-style dinner and dance party for the local ranchers, cowboys and their families. The potluck dinner is complete with gifts for charity, roping contests, a live band and a glorious Christmas tree. Join Ree and her family as they put the "cowboy" in Christmas.

Christmas Ham

It wouldn't be a Christmas banquet without ham. Ree's special glaze, sweetened with raspberry preserves and spiced with Dijon mustard, makes the pork bright, shiny and festive.

Gingerbread Factory

Ree spends some quality time with her daughters, Alex and Paige, mixing, rolling, cutting and baking gingerbread cookies for the party.

Cowboy Cookies

Ree and her daughters use ranch-themed cookie cutters like boots, horses and cows for the full cowboy effect.

The Marlboro Man

Meanwhile, Ladd and the boys fire up the grill with mesquite wood. "It's nice grilling at Christmas 'cause it's cool out," says Ree's husband. "Plus, you get to work over the fire."

Red and Green Kebabs

Grilled kebabs with sirloin beef, bell peppers and onions make for a Christmas-colored fiesta.

Quick and Easy Biscuits

Every cowboy feast needs homemade biscuits, especially on Christmas.

Creamy Rosemary Potatoes

Ree feeds a crowd with a gratin-style potato casserole, rich with cream cheese and Parmesan, and perfumed with fresh rosemary for a hint of Christmas spirit.

Candy Bar

Before the guests arrive, Ree sets up jars and jars of marshmallows, jelly beans, peppermints and gumdrops at the cookie-decorating table — a homemade sweets shop.

Theme Decorations

For cute centerpieces on the long, communal tables, Ree fills cowboy boots with greenery and wraps them in Christmas lights for extra holiday spirit.

Cowboy Competition

For a bit of ranch-style entertainment, the junior cowboys (and cowgirls) line up for a roping contest. Winner gets bragging rights.

A Bar Bunkhouse Band

The four-piece band plays bluegrass-style Christmas carols while the guests dance the night away. Two-part harmonies, fiddle cadenzas and a rootsy bassline give songs like "Joy to the World" and "Jingle Bells" a festive bounce.

Cutting the Rug

To end the night, The Pioneer Woman and her Marlboro Man gaze into each other's eyes on the dance floor — until Ree jokes, "I'm going to break out my '80s moves."
