Here's What Food Network Staffers Are Buying on Black Friday
We've got the steals and deals you just can't miss.
If you’re anything like us, you love a great deal, especially if it means getting a higher-priced item for much, much less. With prices as much as 60% off at retailers like Macys, Kohl’s, Walmart and Amazon, there’s no better time than Black Friday to get something for yourself, plus all your friends, family and co-workers.
We asked Food Network staffers to share what they’ll be adding to their shopping carts this Black Friday. Read on to find out what they had to say and add a few to your own cart to get the present of your dreams.
I’ve been doing the lunch-in-a-Mason-jar thing for quite a while, not because it’s hip, but because I can never find the lids that match my Tupperware. So in honor of Black Friday, the annual day of leftovers, I’m gifting my kitchen this 20-piece Pyrex set, with different-colored lids to keep it all in order. I’ll finally be able to smartly pack up lunches for my 14-month-old, without frantically unloading the entire cabinet of tubs and lids, inadvertently creating a play zone for him. And, since these are glass, I can warm the food in the container without worrying about plastic chemicals. Come at me, leftovers.

I’m keeping my eyes peeled for a wireless phone charger on sale. I have a bad habit of plugging in and unplugging my phone about a thousand times overnight, so something like this handy charger will let me pick it up and go without stressing over stray cords. If the deal is right, I’m probably going to get a second for my desk computer too!

The stemware set I splurged on years ago is slowly dwindling, and I’m over having two favorite glasses left and then four others I picked up on sale one day from who knows where. I love that this set comes with four small glasses and four large glasses, perfect for entertaining all your holiday guests, and you absolutely can’t beat this price.

I usually stay pretty far away from all things Black Friday, but I’m in the final stages of a complete renovation of my den and I really want a Fire TV Stick. A little random, yes, but there’s a direct view of the TV (if you're in the market for a TV this Smart Fire TV is on sale, too) in the den from the kitchen and my grand plan is to watch my favorite cooking classes on the Food Network Kitchen app while I’m cooking, like Martha’s Embellished Wreath cookies, which I plan on gifting to everyone this holiday season.
– Julie Hines, Managing Editor
I am snagging the Fire Stick early this year and I’m so pumped that I will be able to use the Food Network Kitchen app with it! Watching the live and on-demand classes on my TV is going to be a game-changer!

Black Friday is a great time to purchase luggage (I need a new suitcase to travel home for the holidays!) and Macy’s has some great deals. I’m snagging this Samsonite suitcase in Rose Gold; it’s over half off!

My Vitamix has totally changed my life! I used to skip breakfast every day — now I start every single day with a smoothie and look forward to it the minute I wake up. They are such powerful machines — no matter what I throw in there (seeds, nut butters, frozen fruits, ice), the results are silky and smooth — no remnants or crunchy pieces that get stuck in my teeth (#theworst)! This year, I am excited to buy this for my mom — someone who will actually take advantage of the zillion other features (like making soups, salsas and more).

If you haven’t downloaded the all-new Food Network Kitchen app, there’s no time like Black Friday to do it. An annual premium subscription is the best price of the year at just $29.99 for a full 365 days. You'll get access to hundreds of exclusive and immersive on-demand cooking classes (including 40+ LIVE classes every week), in-app grocery ordering, a selection of your favorite Food Network shows and so much more. For the first time ever, you can cook alongside your favorite Food Network stars — and ask them questions during live classes! It’s the most wonderful time to get cooking!

I’m going to start my holiday shopping on time this year (for once!) and pick up LOQI tote bags for everyone on my list — they are incredibly roomy and sturdy and fold up neatly into their tiny matching bags. I used to keep one in my purse, now I’m obsessed and have two so I can do a quick shop on the way home and stock up on literally everything I need for the coming week. The patterns are endless. There’s a Mondrian grid, Van Gogh’s almond blossoms, Japanese wood-cut wave, airport departures board and my favorite — a splatter-paint Pollock. Matching the bag to the person will be the most fun part.

I've been wanting to get a pair of Beats Wireless headphones for a long while now (if you take the subway every day like I do it seems like everyone has a pair and they just look so comfortable and cool), but kept putting it off hoping I'd be able to find a even better deal than the one I saw last. This year though, Walmart's Black Friday sale on them is just too good for me to ignore. At half off, I may just get my twin sister a pair too!

I’m a notoriously lazy Christmas shopper. My one exception is the gift I buy for my adorable three-year-old niece, who requires a coordinated effort between my family to make sure she doesn’t get the same thing twice. This year, she’s getting a play kitchen from “Santa” (aka her parents), so I’m getting her a kid-sized apron to go with it! She loves anything princess-themed, so this set from Kohl’s seems like the perfect choice.

I’m 1,000% getting this Ravioli Maker from KitchenAid! Making these by hand takes forever and they fall apart every time I put them in the water to cook. Getting this attachment for my KitchenAid Mixer will be a total pasta game-changer!

When my boyfriend and I got on the smoothie kick this year I knew I had to upgrade my appliances. The Ninja Smart Screen Blender Duo seemed to be one of the top brands to look at with endless features. Not only is it super powerful and durable, but it's easy to clean after use, which is what sold me. Looking forward to more smoothie making moments in the new year with this bad boy!

Since moving earlier this summer, I have been agonizing over which counter stools to purchase for my kitchen island. My living space is tiny (NYC, baby!) and these stools are basically the decorative link between the kitchen and living room. They’ll be the first thing you’ll see when you walk in the door, and they will also be our main dining perch, so they also have to be comfortable. So you can see why I’ve been trotting my husband all over town, making him sit in barstools until we find the perfect one. (Don’t tell me I’m being dramatic.) I’m still not quite sure I have, but these understated seats from West Elm are the winners — they’re lightweight, not a wood tone that will clash with our living room furniture (like so many stools are), and have a mid-height back that’s supportive but won’t cut into room’s sight lines. And they’ll be 20% off if I purchase two or three this Black Friday — a number I can swallow even if I find my white-whale of stools in a year.

I’ve been eyeing this Nespresso Creatista Plus for a while now. Not only can this stainless steel machine craft lattes and cappuccinos (thanks to the attached frother), but it also doubles as a classic coffee maker. For someone who is guilty of stopping for a latte in the morning, I think this Nespresso (which is currently 35% off at Amazon) is going to be a good investment this Black Friday.
