All About Donna

A health coach from New York City, Donna was the first finalist sent home from the Season 10 competition. Despite her strong point of view — healthy takes on classic recipes — Donna struggled to make a connection with the mentors in just one week.

Early Impressions

Donna's first pitch to the mentors showcased her version of what she calls "healthy comfort food," and the mentors noted that her challenge would be finding an improved way of relaying her perspective. "You can't hit people over the head with the healthy thing," Giada reminded her. Alton added: "Get to some images and some points that are going to make people want to hear more."

Star Scribes

Each finalist was given a notebook to use during his or her time in the competition, and Donna filled hers with notes about the mentors' reviews and her ideas for the challenges. Here she jotted down Alton's, Bobby's and Giada's opinions about her back lot pitch, and penned ideas related to her point of view.

Taking It In

Once cooking began in Food Star Kitchen, Donna was practically overcome with excitement, yelling to her fellow competitors, "You guys, we're on the next Food Network Star!"

Reimagining a Sandwich

The finalists' first-ever Star Challenge tasked them with creating party bites for 100 people, and for Donna that meant making what she deemed "Donna's BLT." This next-level take on the traditional sandwich featured endive, arugula and crisp bacon, which the Selection Committee ultimately found unsuccessful.

Careful Planning

Before Donna walked the red carpet, she took to her Star journal to practice what she'd say at the podium.

Solid Message

Although Donna's dish didn't strike a chord with the mentors, Food Network's Bob Tuschman admitted that her perspective could be compelling. "I would love her to sort of find her bearings because I want that kind of food in my life," he explained after her performance at the party.

The First to Fall

Ultimately Donna's time in the competition was short-lived, as she was sent home after only one week. Before Donna left, Giada told her, "You had a great message." Looking ahead, Donna explained, "I have a lot to share, and I'm going to keep sharing it."
