The Big 10
Food Network Magazine isn't the only one turning 10 this month! Jeff Mauro’s son, Lorenzo, invites his buddies to a band-themed party— with snacks that rock.

When Jeff Mauro and his wife, Sarah, asked their son how he wanted to celebrate his 10th birthday, he requested two of his favorite things: cheeseburgers and rock and roll.

“Lorenzo loves cheeseburgers as much as I love pizza — which is to say a lot,” Jeff says. The Kitchen cohost set out to create a meaty and cheesy lunch for the birthday boy and a few friends.
On the menu: cheeseburger-topped potato tots, beef quesadillas and bacon-cheddar caramel corn — plus PB&J shakes.

Time to Party!
See All PhotosJeff then ran with the rock-and-roll theme, ordering an incredible drum-kit cake from his go-to Chicago bakery, Sugar Fixé, and letting the kids jam on a makeshift stage at his sandwich shop, Pork & Mindy’s. “Playing music is a great way for us to spend time together,” Jeff says.
Cake Walk
See All PhotosCustom cakes are a Mauro family tradition — Sugar Fixé bakery in Chicago (sugarfixe.com) has made Lorenzo’s birthday cakes since he turned 5! The theme changes every year, but the cake is always chocolate.
