Special equipment: 9-by-5-by-3-inch metal loaf pan
Chill a 9-by-5-by-3-inch metal loaf pan in the freezer.
Whisk the sweetened condensed milk, vanilla, salt and 1 tablespoon of the charcoal in a large bowl. Combine the heavy cream and remaining tablespoon charcoal in a second large bowl. Whip with a hand mixer until stiff peaks form. Fold about 1 cup of the whipped cream into the condensed milk mixture, then fold in the remaining whipped cream. Pour the mixture into the chilled loaf pan and spread across the bottom. Cover with plastic wrap and freeze for 5 hours.
Scoop and serve.
