Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Slit the skin of each nut with an "X" to allow the steam to escape as they cook. Put chestnuts on a baking sheet, and roast in the oven for about 15 minutes. When nuts are cool enough to touch, grasp the curling skin, and peel.
