Spicy Broccoli Rabe

1 cup nonfat chicken broth

1 1/2 pounds broccoli rabe, hollow stems trimmed

1 red bell pepper, cut into thin strips

1/2 to 3/4 teaspoon dried hot red pepper flakes

3 garlic cloves, smashed


  1. Combine all ingredients with salt and pepper to taste in a large saucepan and simmer, covered, stirring occasionally, until vegetables are just tender, about 8 minutes.
