Behind the Scenes of Food Network Star, Season 11: Star Salvation
Browse insider snapshots of Alex Guarnaschelli, Jeff Mauro and the rivals from the set of Star Salvation.
Episode 6: Go, Team, Go
After what would be the final round of cooking in Star Salvation, the top-three hopefuls came together for a group high-five to celebrate their collective completion.
Bro Time
Both friends and rivals, Alex and Dom found a quick moment for horseplay in the midst of a stressful 25-minute cooking period.
Round 5: Friends and Rivals
From their early days on Food Network Star, Rue and Emilia proved to be close friends, and it appears that their relationship has continued into Star Salvation, as they came together for a hug backstage.
Round 4: A Host's Presentation
The redemption rivals weren't the only ones working the kitchen; even Jeff took to the arena to strut his stuff, this time a posed, seemingly still move.
Round 3: Looking At You
Alex and Jeff enjoyed a quick moment of funny reprieve during a break in filming as the remaining four rivals presented their plates.
The Makings of a Sauce
Ketchup, fresh pineapple, Dijon and onions — these are just a few of the ingredients in Bobby Flay's pineapple-ginger barbecue sauce. Each finalist can grab three items to use in their dish, and once the ingredients are gone, no one else can use them.
Side-by-Side Cooking
Even though Food Star Kitchen normally houses up to 12 finalists, this week on Salvation, just four rivals were in the arena at once. But even given the surplus of space, Christina and Matthew still found themselves working side by side at the stove and grill.
Immediate Relief
After learning that she'd been spared from elimination this week, Rue couldn't help but hold her head in her hands and later turn to embrace Emilia next to her.
Round 2: Friendly Rivals
Although all four of these finalists are competing for the same single spot, they were all smiles as they got together for a photo on set.
Multitasking Prep
Like her rivals, Rosa didn't have even moments to spare during the second round's love challenge, so she carried her berries into the pantry as she dashed in there for another ingredient.
A Grand Space
This photo shows the sheer enormity of Food Star Kitchen, home to both Food Network Star and Star Salvation.
Round 1: Capturing It All
As hosts Alex and Jeff watched the first round's taco challenge unfold, multiple cameras were on hand to capture their commentary and to pick up the finalists' every move as they sprinted around Food Star Kitchen.
Presentation Setup
Complete with several cameras and many crew members, this was the setup the finalists faced as they prepared to give their first Salvation presentations.
Food in Focus
Just like on Food Network Star, the cameras were sure to follow the finalists around the kitchen and get up close with the food as it came together on the prep stations.
