Ingredients

  • 1 pound spaghetti
  • 2/3 cup olive oil
  • 2/3 cup grated Parmesan
  • 1/2 cup fresh lemon juice (about 3 lemons)
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon lemon zest
  • 1/3 cup chopped fresh basil leaves

Directions

Cook the pasta in a large pot of boiling salted water until tender but still firm to the bite, stirring occasionally, about 8 minutes. Meanwhile, whisk the oil, Parmesan, and lemon juice in a large bowl to blend.

Drain the pasta, reserving 1 cup of the cooking liquid. Toss the pasta with the lemon sauce, and the reserved cooking liquid, adding 1/4 cup at a time as needed to moisten. Season with salt and pepper. Garnish with lemon zest and chopped basil.

This is the recipe that everyone asks me to make. It's unexpected and yummy. Light and perfect for a girls night or whenever.... It's also super easy and only requires a few ingredients-bonus!Read more

    SO LIGHT AND REFRESHING

Rated: 5 stars out of 5
This recipe is so easy and fantastic. So light and refreshing. I added cubed chicken breast meat sauteed in olive oil and... minced garlic. I think it would go great with Shrimp as well. This would make a great cold pasta salad in the summertime. Enjoy!Read more

    Yum!

This recipe is pretty good. I wouldn't say fantastic, because I felt it had too much olive oil, but that is easy to change. ... I would add about 1/4 teaspoon of red pepper flakes next time I make it. This serves 4 as a main dish. I paired it with a filling salad and good bread. We'll certainly make it again. Thanks!Read more

    disappointed

Unfortunately, I really did not like this! I read the reviews before I cooked it and cut the recipe in half. Side dish. ... Was a bit oily but that's not a problem for me. It just had a strange, not enjoyable taste. As per a reviewer's suggestion, I added sundried tomatoes and garlic (both of which I adore) and I still didn't like it. Never even got around to adding the lemon zest or the basil since I didn't like it with or without the tomato/garlic mixture. I generally like pasta in any way/shape/or form but next time if I want easy, basic pasta I'll stick with my sauteed garlic and parmesan! Read more

    Great base recipe

Rated: 4 stars out of 5
This was delish! I did add some ingredients to it to give it a punch. I'm not much for pepper so I added a pinch of sundried... tomatoe and sea salt. It was awesome. The flavor really packs a punch! I used Barilla Plus thin spaghetti, but I"m sure it would be excellent with whole wheat too. I also boiled the pasta with one of the squeezed lemon halves. I did not have to use any of the reserved pasta water to it. Thanks again Giada! Read more
