I liked this one. Ice cream worked better than yogurt though. Yougurt tended to seperate in the glass. Here's another recipe I found that is also great. It's from Sub Rosa Spirits, which are available mostly in the West, but also on the Internet. This uses thier Saffron vodka, which contains cumin, coriander, ginger, black pepper, cayenne pepper and saffron. Makes for a very Indian like drink.
Hard Mango Lassi
This is basically an alcohol smoothie inspired by the classic Indian beverage. Scale this to your taste and the tools at hand. If the ice cream is soft, you can make it in a shaker, otherwise use a blender.
Mango ice cream - Start with a half pint.
Mango juice - Add appox. 6 oz. to make as thin or thick as you like.
Lime juice - the juice of one fresh lime in a half pint of ice cream is fine.
1 cup Saffron vodka
Add ingredients in a blender. Taste it. Add more mango juice or ice cream to get the consistency you like. Make it so you can just taste the alcohol. If you want to get fancy, add a touch of triple sec. The creaminess of the ice cream and the sweetness of the mango are the perfect foil to the spiciness of the Saffron vodka. Dust with a sprinkle of cardamom powder.
lassi's are suppose to be indian based.
this is sooo diffrent. it was OKAY. my fmailey thought it was pretty horid. and we are indian. so comign from an ethnic place, i fixed it up. i used mango pulp, milk, sugar, you can use vannila or mango yogurt, and alota other stuff. finally, after fixing it, we LOVED it. i had a house warming party, and served my version of the lassi to people. they loved it.
