Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 1 small red onion, chopped
  • 1 cup golden raisins
  • 1 (8-ounce) tube crescent rolls (recommended: Pillsbury)
  • 12 slices (about 3 ounces) provolone
  • 12 slices (6 ounces) Genoa or other salami
  • 1 tablespoon black poppy seeds

Directions

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. In a medium saute pan over medium heat add the oil and saute onions and raisins until both are tender, about 10 minutes. Set aside to cool.

Roll out 6 of the crescent pastry rolls and slice in half forming 2 triangles and 12 pieces total. To assemble, place a piece of salami and cheese on 1 triangle. Add a dollop of the onion mixture in the center. Starting at the wider edge, roll the crescent triangle to form a small croissant. Place seam side down on a baking sheet. Repeat with remaining ingredients. Sprinkle poppy seeds over each roll and bake for 13 to 15 minutes or until golden brown.

    not impressed

How you're supposed to get a slice of cheese into a half a crescent roll is beyond me. I ended up cutting the cheese into... strips the same width as the pastry, which left me with a lot of leftover cheese. As I expected the cheese melted out of the roll and all over the baking pan. My husband liked them, but I didn't think they were anything special. Read more

    Only Okay

I thought this was good and unique. I brought it to a tailgate party and no one liked it. My sister even through away the... remainder of hers. Even though I liked it, I will not make it again because it was not well received. Also, an 8 oz pillsbury cresent roll tube has 8 triangles, not 6 (that Sunny instructs to cut in half) and I had way too much raisin/onion mixture- the proportions are wrong for this recipe.Read more

    Sweet and Salty

Out of the thirty people who tried the Farm in a Blanket they only one said it was less than excellent. They reported that... they like to keep their sweets and salts separate, but in the next breath asked if there where any more. Fun treat!Read more

    Hit of the party!

Wow - I can't believe how fast this went at this weekend's picnic. My only regret is that I didn't make more - as I wasn't... fast enough to sample one. This recipe is easy and quick to prepare. 1/4 pound of sliced salami from the deli is what you need. I did have left over cresent rolls that I didn't need - may want to get a little extra salami and provolone next time.Read more
