Ingredients

Steamed Artichokes:

  • 3 large globe artichokes
  • Lemon juice
  • Olive oil
  • Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper

Directions

Trim artichokes down to their hearts, working quickly so they don't go too brown (you can rub with lemon juice as you go if you like). Split hearts in half lengthwise and drizzle with a little olive oil and season with some salt and pepper. Place into a microwave-steamer bag and cook for 2 to 3 minutes in your microwave (time may vary depending on your microwave). When done allow to sit in the bag for 1 minute then remove and roughly chop. Set aside to cool.

Dip:

  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
  • Steamed artichoke hearts
  • 1 cup fresh lump crab meat, picked over
  • 1 bunch fresh flat-leaf parsley, for garnish
  • Grated Parmesan

For the dip:

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.

Combine mayonnaise, sour cream, lemon, salt and pepper in a mixing bowl and stir to combine. Add chopped, cooked artichoke hearts and lump crabmeat. Stir well and season with more salt and pepper, if necessary. Pour into an oven proof dish (a large ramekin works well) and bake dip for 10 to 12 minutes until heated through and top is nice and bubbly. Serve with croutons and garnish with parsley sprigs and Parmesan.

Croutons:

  • 1 French baguette
  • Extra-virgin olive oil
  • Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Cut baguette on a slight bias and lay out on a sheet tray. Drizzle with olive oil and season lightly with salt and pepper. Bake in the oven for 5 to 7 minutes until golden brown and crispy. Serve with Artichoke Crab Dip.

    Steamed Artichoke Crab Dip

The recipe is wonderful. I did adjust the recipe by decreasing the mayonaise to 1/2 cup and added 4 oz of cream cheese. I... used this as a topping to Alaskan Halibut and was very tasty. I added fresh dill into the recipe for the topping. Read more

Made this for xmas eve potluck. Pretty simple! Everyone loved it and it was the first dish cleaned on the table! I tweeked... the recipe a little by adding garlic powder, lime juice and topping it with some Panko Bread Crumbs. The bread crumbs toasted nicely and added a nice change up in texture. I served it with toasted pita slices! Will definitely make this again!Read more

    question: feedback please

Rated: 5 stars out of 5
hi, I'm a relative newbie, especially with seafood. considering I live in the Midwest, my choices for crab are canned or... frozen king or snow crab legs. I have a couple of pounds of frozen snow crab legs in the freezer that have been in there a little while... a few months... I doubt if they would be that good now... could I use the meat from them for a dish like this? I hate to waste food... and this sounds SO good... love Tyler's stuff. any feedback is appreciated. sorry if this is off-topic... EricRead more

    Fresh is Best

Rated: 5 stars out of 5
I made this for a party and it was great. I did make some adjustments, increased the crab and mixed about 1/4 C parmesan... into the dip. The crab amount was the equivalent of a 1.5lb dungeness crab about 2 cups. I mixed fresh bread crumbs with the parmesan on top for baking. Turned out great.Read more
