How to Ship Cookies

Food Network Magazine packed up dozens of fragile treats and mailed them across the country to see just what would keep the cookies from crumbling.

BOX 1: Cookies packed snugly in the tin.
Tin placed in the box.
Box padded with newspaper.

Cushioning the tin with newspaper isn't enough: On one trip, a quarter of the cookies broke; on another, most shattered. And our box marked "FRAGILE" was the worst off!

BOX 2: Cookies packed in the tin between layers of wax paper.
Tin placed in the box.
Box padded with newspaper.

Despite the wax-paper layers, some delicate cookies suffered (reindeer lost their legs), but this method worked fine for sturdier trees and circles.

BOX 3: Cookies packed in the tin between layers of bubble wrap.
Tin placed in the box.
Box padded with newspaper.

WINNER! Bubble wrap gave the cookies the protection they needed—just one angel cracked in half. The trick: Pack your tin snugly so the cookies won't move in transit.
