This was very nice! I actually made a simple syrup and added it to the drink and loved every second of it. Had one once at restaurant with a hint of fresh basil that was delicious, looking forward to trying that one at home!

Ahhhhhh....Alex! This woman knows good cocktails!

Others reviewers reference this as a summer cocktail...BUT...winter is prime season for all citrus, grapefruit included. So this is a wonderful winter cocktail. Starting just about now, late November.

Also find that squeezing the fresh grapefuit juice makes all the difference between a good cocktail, which it will be with a pre squeezed grapefruit juice, and a stellar cocktail. If you make this when Meyer lemons are in season - roughly late November to May - and use them for the fresh lemon juice component, well then this is an incredibly stellar cocktail!

My fav orange liquer for this is the one made by Patron; it lends itself to the fresh juice taste of the drink.

Shaking this well is key to good outcome. And I actually prefer to serve this over ice in a short highball glass.
