Ingredients
Directions
Special Equipment: Blowtorch
Halve each grapefruit crosswise, and cut a thin slice off the bottom of each half to stabilize the pieces. Remove all seeds from the grapefruit, and loosen the segments with a paring knife.
Sprinkle each half evenly with the sugar. Using a blowtorch, melt the sugar to form a golden brown and crispy surface. Sprinkle the hot sugar with the salt, and serve immediately.

Tried it out on a family member. Normally she doesn't put sugar on her grapefruit. She liked it anyway. I had to use a torch./lighter as I didn't have a brulee or kitchen torch. I also used raw sugar. Turned out very well. Next time I'll use a real torch. LOL

I have not eaten grapefruit in several years and thought I never would again. I had to try this (in part because it involves fire and it is fantastic! My pencil torch died on the second serving this morning so I'm off to buy a new Bernzomatic. Turbinado and sea salt worked well.
