Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup good quality popcorn
  • 2 teaspoons olive oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt or popcorn salt
  • Sprinkle jalapeno seasoning mix
  • Paper lunch bag
  • Stapler

Directions

Toss the popcorn with the olive oil, salt, and jalapeno seasoning mix in the paper bag. Fold the top of the bag over and staple the bag twice to close. Place the bag in the microwave and microwave on high for 2 minutes to 3 minutes, or until there are about 5 seconds between pops.

NOTE: Popcorn salt is a super-fine salt that is designed especially for sticking to food such as popcorn. It has the taste of regular table salt, but its granules are much finer.

    Amazing!!!

We use this recipe all the time (I usually eyeball the amount of oil now, it works fine), and I love it. If you love... microwave popcorn (and who doesn't?), this will save you a bundle. My only thing that I would add would be to place 1-2 sheets of paper towel under the bag when you put it in the microwave. The oil tends to seep through the bag and can leave a bit of a mess when you're done.Read more

    be vewy vewy careful...

4 star simply because it didn't work well the first time...I suspect success will be contingent on several factors...in MY... case, LESS oil, LESS time in the micro (mine is 1000W) and MORE popcorn salt, LOL...TIP: skip the stapling, completely unnecessary...just fold over the bag opening TWICE, then lay with the folded side down!Read more

    Excellent! Beats store-bought

Great recipe: cheap, easy and yummy! Two caveats though. Use peanut oil, canola, soybean, anything but the EVOO, it has... too low a smoking point. And two, watch the bag in the micro. If it gets caught up and doesn't keep turning your popcorn will be a blackened mess.Read more

    So simple. So delicious.

This recipe solved my dilemma about making a single serving of popcorn without getting the packaged stuff with artificial... ingredients. I must say that extra-virgin olive oil is a bad idea. It burns very easily. I usually just use canola oil. It satisfies my craving for popcorn without dirtying any dishes!Read more

I admitt it, I sneek this into the movie theater, who want's the theater popcorn after trying Alton's popcorn! This is a... great, healthy and easy alternative to the store bought microwave popcorn bags. I didn't have a stapler. I just folded the bag over twice and it stayed sealed while popping. I like to pop without the oil or salt but I add it after popping. Just shake well in the bag after adding EVOO and salt.Read more

Alton is a genius. Tastes worlds better than store-bought microwave popcorn.
