Ingredients

  • 4 cups whole milk
  • 1 vanilla bean, seeds scraped
  • 2/3 cup malted milk powder
  • 1/4 cup packed light brown sugar
  • Ground cinnamon, for garnish

Directions

Bring the milk and vanilla seeds to a simmer in a heavy medium saucepan. Add the malted milk powder and brown sugar to the hot milk, whisking until dissolved. Remove 1 cup milk mixture and puree in a blender, about 2 minutes. Divide the milk among 4 mugs and top with the pureed milk and a sprinkle of cinnamon.

BYOC: This is a perfect drink for after spending some time out in the cold. Make this for the kids and add a little light rum for the adults.

I used chocolate ovaltine because I didn't know what malted milk powder was. Also, next time I will use vanilla extract in place of the vanilla seeds. Found the seeds to be at the bottom of my mug instead of in my tummy. Overall delicious. I will make this again.

Very good. Kids loved it!! I didn't want to mess up my blender to make the froth for the top so I just used whipped cream. Will make it again!
