Ingredients

  • Mini candy bars, such as Twix, Mars, Snickers or Almond Joy
  • 1 whole egg
  • 1 cup milk
  • Pinch salt
  • 1 1/2 cups self-rising flour
  • Peanut oil, for frying

Directions

Freeze the mini candy bars.

Combine the egg and milk in a large bowl and add a pinch of salt. Whisk in the flour and refrigerate, covered, for at least 30 minutes.

Heat about 4 cups of oil in a large pot to 365 degrees F.

Dunk the frozen candy bars into the chilled batter, and then gently drop them, in batches into the oil. Cook just until light golden in color, then remove them to a brown paper bag to drain and cool for at least 1 minute.

Made this for a party and it was a HUGE hit! Everyone loved it. I let people pick their own candy, and it fried quickly. A little gross cold, but most fried food is. Can't blame the recipe for that!

was delicious! easy and fun! i saw on the tv show first, but wanted to look at recipe too. my only thing, the recipe on tv and this one differs. 1 c flour on tv which is the correct amount. i tried the 1 1/c and its TOO MUCH!! tv calls for 350 degrees this is 365. idk which, i didnt use a candy thermometer. i saw on another food network show, that if u put a popcorn kernal in the hot oil and it pops, its 350 degrees. so i did that. it worked great!!
but recipe was WONDERFUL! now we cant wait to dunk other goodies, oreos, maybe twinkies, etc!!
thankx for the great recipe!! :
