Ingredients
- 1 1/2 sticks unsalted butter
- 4 ounces semisweet chocolate, chopped
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
Cream Cheese Frosting:
- 1/2 stick butter, room temperature
- 8 ounces cream cheese, room temperature
- 4 cups powdered sugar
- 3 tablespoons orange juice
- 1 tablespoon orange zest
Directions
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
Line an 8 by 8-inch pan with foil, leaving a 2-inch overhang. Spray with nonstick spray.
Melt butter and chocolate in a heavy bottomed saucepan over medium heat stirring constantly.
Once the chocolate is melted and smooth, stir in the sugar, eggs, salt, and vanilla extract together. Whisk until smooth. Add the flour and stir until thoroughly combined. Pour into pan.
Bake for 30 minutes. Remove from oven and let cool completely on wire rack.
Cream Cheese Frosting:
Beat the butter and cream cheese with a hand mixer until fluffy and light. Add the powdered sugar and beat until combined. Add the orange juice and zest and beat until thoroughly combined. Place frosting in a piping bag with a large star tip.
Remove brownies from the pan. Using a 1 1/2-inch round ring mold cut out the brownies into circles. Decoratively pipe the frosting on the brownies.

Super simple and super delicious. This is the only Brownie recipe I'll use, and I've yet to get to the frosting. I've made them with mint chocolate, peanut butter, nuts, toffee chips....LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this recipe!!

I've made these brownies 3 times. Each time the frosting was great (Warning: Super Sweet!!!. Had no problems with that part.
The first time, however, the brownies turned out incredibly sticky, gooey, and nearly impossible to manage.
The second time, I adjusted the recipe using only 1 stick of butter instead of 1 1/2, cooked them five minutes longer, and refrigerated them a good 30 mins before attempting to handle them. That helped some, but they were still quite difficult to manage.
The third time, I was just craving them and gave no thought to the easy management side of things. Ate them straight out of the pan (haphazardly frosted!
Returning to the recipe so many times is certainly a testament to it's deliciousness (if you don't mind the sugar rush, and i'd give five stars to the taste and texture alone. Due to the impossibility of handling these treats in any clean way at all, I'm only giving it four stars on the whole.

I entered a Dessert Bake-Off contest at my job. I made the brownies with the frosting and eveyone raved about how good they were. They loved the frosting on the brownies! I didn't place in the contest, but folks took the brownies home to their loved ones! Thanks Neely's!!!
