Air Fryer Buffalo Chicken Wings

  • Level: Easy
  • Yield: 4 servings
  • Total: 30 min
  • Active: 5 min
I will only make wings in the air fryer from now on — it doesn’t smell up my kitchen like a deep-fryer or dry out the meat like roasting can. These are crisp but tender and juicy at the same time.

Ingredients

2 1/4 pounds chicken wings, split at the joints

1 tablespoon vegetable oil

Kosher salt and freshly ground pepper

3 tablespoons unsalted butter

3/4 cup Buffalo-style hot sauce (such as Frank’s RedHot)

Celery sticks and blue cheese dressing, for serving

Directions

  1. Preheat a 6-quart air fryer to 350˚ F. Toss the chicken wings with the vegetable oil and 1 teaspoon each salt and pepper in a large bowl. Add to the air fryer basket in an even layer and cook until golden and cooked through, about 10 minutes per side.
  2. Increase the fryer to 400˚ F and continue cooking until the wings are crisp, 5 to 7 more minutes.
  3. Meanwhile, melt the butter with the hot sauce in a small saucepan over medium heat. Transfer to a large bowl and add the wings; toss to coat in the sauce. Serve with celery sticks and blue cheese dressing.
