Directions

1 1/2 cups balsamic vinegar

3 tablespoons sugar, plus more for sprinkling

12 (1/2-inch) thick slices ciabatta bread

2 tablespoons butter

Boil the balsamic vinegar and 3 tablespoons of sugar in a heavy small saucepan over medium-high heat until reduced to 1/2 cup, stirring occasionally, about 20 minutes.

Toast the bread slices. Spread the butter over the toasts. Arrange the toasts on a platter. Drizzle the reduced balsamic syrup over the toasts then sprinkle with a little more sugar, and serve.

    Wonderfully delicous

Rated: 5 stars out of 5
I had steered clear of Balsamic Vinegar after trying some that was horrible. But I saw Giada make this and thought I would... give it a go. It was heavenly!!! I purchased very good Balsamic Vinegar and followed the recipe to a T. When done correctly the vinegar has a fruity citrus taste to it. It is the perfect dessert for someone that does not like things that are overly sweet but delicious just the same.Read more

    Did I burn this?

Rated: 1 stars out of 5
I reduced the sauce until it had the syrup like consistency, put it on the toasted bread, and...yuck! It tasted awful- like... it was burned and had a glue like texture. Not sure what happened here!Read more

Rated: 4 stars out of 5
I'm not sure why the recipe doesn't say this but in the show she served it with spreadable cheese that the guests put on top... of the toast. Read more

    Yummy and easy

Rated: 5 stars out of 5
This was a 5 star recipe based partly on ease. I will definitely make it again. As a note, I used sourdough, and broiled... the bread. After broiling one side, I buttered the other and sprinkled with the sugar, then broiled. This crisped up the sugar before putting on the vinegar mixture. I would probably lean toward serving as an appetizer with cheese, fruit, and nuts.Read more
