I just watched this episode on FN. Michael made three diferent flavors of popcorn from his "original" huge pa that he popped using 1 1/2 c. unpopped corn. That may be where your confusion lies. He just put handfuls of the popped corn from the "mother pot" into bowls to flavor each one differently. Hope this helps!
