Ingredients

2 slices black bread*
1 to 2 tablespoons cream cheese
1 to 2 tablespoons best quality black cherry jam
*Cook's Note: Black bread can be found at speciality Polish bakeries and some supermarkets. Brown or rye bread can be substituted.

Directions

Smear a slice of black bread with the cream cheese, and top with the black cherry jam. Top with the second slice of bread and serve.

First of all, this is NOT Hungarian. C'mon, use Austrian bread. HELLO! And Jason, get over yourself. The person you think... was rude, was honest. I don't come to a respected sight to be told to smear creme cheese on bread. . Get Real. Nigella is not Hungarian, the Armenian reviewer endorsed the sandwich and we're told to use Austrian bread. I can't say enough on how stunned I am by this recipe. And this would be a recipe in a child's cookbook- nowhere else.Read more

Why is a one year old recipe at the top of her search page?

I searched "Nigella" on this site and have found that this recipe is #1. All comments are about one year old. This is stale... info and is obviously being poorly monitored. Not to mention there is little info on this show in general. Please at least let her and her PR folks manage her content on this site as the FN is doing a poor job of it. I'd like to see one episode on in the evening during the week, if possible. Surely she has newer stuff. But there is no update I can find on FN either. Please update your website FN!Read more

This sandwich is delicious and an old time favorite. I took Jason's advice and used the reduced cream cheese. The person... who signed in with the nasty comment signed it annoymous. What a chicken and they should get their head outta there butt. Nigella does indeed ROCK !!!!!Read more
