Who cares if it is Hungarian or not. As for the person who claims this is basically a lame recipe must be really creative and should try out for the Next Food Network Star. Sometimes recipes are more of a concept and a blend of different ingredients that are really simple. I would have never thought of cream cheese, cherry jelly and rye bread. I was surprised at how good this tasted. I make this several times a week to have as a snack at work. I am going to try some other flavors of jam/jelly like Lisa suggested. It is a nice change from peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.

The only thing Hungarian, the only part that Hungary plays, is the Black Cherry Jam, which is not as sweet as other black cherry jams. I don't seem to be able to get it here in Louisville, but I will keep looking!

It's a delicious sandwich, and I just wonder if some of the people commenting on this website even watch the shows! She admits that it is not authentic Hungarian food!
