    just added...

Rated: 5 stars out of 5
It was delicious, just fantastic, not too salty or too much butter I just added a little almond extract, but even without... that, it was a GREAT cookie. the previous reviews made me feel discouraged from eating it, but my family loved it and so did I. I strongly recommend this recipe.Read more

Rated: 5 stars out of 5
i am a young cook and i love cooking cookies for my family i made these exspecting a bad cookie because i read bad reviews...... overall i think these cookies are preety good. i only put a little bit of dough on the sheet and it expanded so much! i did change it a little bit i put in a half cup butter and half cup shortining. i also used blueberry's instead of raisen's (my dad n sister dont like raisen's also) they were moist and chewy i would make them again.Read more

DRY and TASTELESS... can I choose no stars?

Rated: 1 stars out of 5
Others stated that this recipe is good, but don't believe them -- they either seriously modified the recipe or don't know how... a good cookie tastes. Too bad 'no stars' is not an option. I was looking for a good oatmeal cookie recipe, and this one had 4/5 stars (pretty good since it had 59 ratings, at the time) plus an "easy" cooking level... boy does it suck! It smelled delicious, but was DRY and TASTELESS. I wanted to split the recipe into two batches because my daughter doesn't like raisins too much, but without them the cookie tasted like a lump of wheat flour. I wanted a smoother cookie, so I blended the quick-oats a little (quick vs. regular? didn't know so I just picked one). First batch had no raisins, so we tasted it before making the rest. Yuck! It was a thick and dry cookie with no flavor, unless you consider 'a mostly wheat-flour taste' as a flavor. To the rest (about half the batter) I added about 3Tbs white sugar, about 6oz sweetened applesauce, several spinkles of cinnamon, and a pinch of salt, then the raisins. This made the batter much thinnner, resulting in a cookie with a much different texture. I didn't really like the new texture, but it tastes much better (still not the tasty cookie I was looking for). Most of this 'better taste' was in the raisins, not in the modified batter. *sigh* Oh well. I guess I have to keep looking for a good oatmeal cookie recipe. With the trouble I went through just to end up with a crappy cookie, I may as well forget it and buy oatmeal cookies at the grocery store bakery. I know, I know. Homemade cookies are more special and mich more fun... but that is only when the cookie tastes good. Read more
