Ingredients

Bog Burgers:

  • 1 1/3 pounds (the average weight of one package from meat case) ground turkey breast
  • 1 small McIntosh apple, finely chopped
  • 1 small white onion, chopped
  • 1 rib celery from heart of the stalk, finely chopped
  • 1 rounded teaspoon poultry seasoning
  • Salt and pepper
  • Vegetable oil, for drizzling
  • 4 sandwich size sourdough English muffins
  • 1 cup prepared whole berry cranberry sauce
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise or reduced fat mayonnaise
  • 8 leaves Bibb lettuce, cleaned

Corn:

  • 4 ears corn, shucked
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 20 blades fresh chives, finely chopped

Directions

Combine turkey, apple, onion, celery, poultry seasoning, salt, and pepper in a bowl and form into 4 large patties. Preheat a large skillet or a grill pan to medium high heat. Drizzle skillet or brush grill with vegetable oil and cook patties 5 to 6 minutes on each side. Toast split English muffins. Mix together cranberry sauce and mayonnaise. Spread muffin halves with cran-mayonnaise and pile in burgers and Bibb lettuce. Serve burgers with corn on the cob and berry desserts.

Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Add salt and corn and cook for 5 to 6 minute. Drain ears and spread with butter. Sprinkle ears with a generous coating of chopped chives.

FINALLY! I found a Turkey Burger that I LOVE! I believe I tried in the past to prepare ground turkey to taste like hamburger and I just could never hit the mark. That's why this turkey burger makes since.

I prepared with ground turkey(dark meat with the shredded onion and apple, celery, sage, thyme, marjoram, and sweet paprika. Also, I added a few shakes of liquid smoke. Grilled on indoor grill. Topped with White American Cheese, Bibb Lettuce on Bakery Kaiser Rolls. That Cranberry Mayo was just shear GENIUS!

If you are like me and was just not a fan of a Turkey Burger because it just has never been as satisfying? Then I BEG you to try this recipe. Rachel you ROCKED this one.

UNEXPECTED TURKEY BURGER -- JUICY & FULL OF FLAVOR!!

Thank you Rachael for such an innovative approach to a turkey burger, and thank you for making a recipe that is geared for the ground turkey packages sold in grocery stores. Excellent flavor, and elevated a plain-ole-turkey burger into something really fun to eat. LOVED THIS RECIPE!! Will totally make this again!!!

    ADAPTATIONS
    1. Used half of a finely diced granny smith apple
    2. Added fresh chopped sage (I loooove sage
    3. Melted Vermont cheddar cheese on top
    4. Swapped out English Muffins for Lettuce Leaves

The turkey burgers were a hit! I used ground dark meat turkey. To the cran-mayo, I added 1/2 t of dijon mustard, and 1/2 t of orange juice. Instead of lettuce, I had a slice of avocado on the burgers - and I used brioche buns instead of english muffins. I will definitely make these again - super easy to make, moist, and delicious.
