Ingredients
- 3 heads broccoli (about 3 pounds)
- 3 tablespoons olive oil
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper
- 1 cup freshly grated Parmigiano-Reggiano
- 1 lemon, juiced
Directions
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.
Trim about 1 inch off the ends of the broccoli stalks and cut the broccoli lengthwise into spears. Arrange the broccoli on a nonstick cookie sheet, drizzle with some olive oil and season with a little bit of salt and a generous amount of freshly ground black pepper. Toss to coat evenly. Transfer to the oven and roast for 10 minutes.
Remove the broccoli from the oven and sprinkle the cheese evenly over the top and bake until the cheese melt and forms a crisp shell over the broccoli, about 10 minutes. Lift the broccoli out onto a platter with a spatula and drizzle with fresh lemon.

Fabulous recipe! My whole family loved it. My 9 year old daughter even had 2 servings!! I will definitely make this again.

I loved that I was inspired by this recipe. Acknowledging that the taste for salt varies widely, I would eliminate the salt next time altogether because of the lemon juice. Nice taste. I would also add the cheese and broil to finish (which I did after not caring for the way the cheese was melting. I paired it with a salad made of cherry tomatoes, hearts of palm, artichoke hearts, and radishes and arugula heavy mesculum from my garden dressed with an adapted Ina Garten lemon vinaigrette topped with fresh basil. Add a glass of crisp white wine and enjoy! I would have given the recipe a higher rating if I didn't feel it needed several modifications. But that's the joy of cooking! I also agree with jessicutza in mixing the oil, spices, and broc in a bowl first.

So good, but add much more salt! I would mix the broccoli with salt, pepper, and oil in a bowl first to coat everything perfectly and then transfer to a baking sheet.
