  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 12 ounces beer
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter

    Bread w/ a Twist

Rated: 5 stars out of 5
I made this for the first time with Sam Adam's Octoberfest. So yummy and a little sweet. Very moist. Less than a week... later I decided to try out a suggestion from a fellow review and make a cinnamon raisin version. Used sugar as called for, 1/4 c raisins and 1T of cinnamon. Then I used A&W Cream Soda instead of beer. Put a little butter on top and sprinkled with sugar and cinnamon. YUM! Play with this recipe. It's so good I want to make it weekly. One warning watch the cook time, the sweet version cooked faster by 5 minutes, at least in my oven.Read more

    Very Good Bread

Rated: 4 stars out of 5
The bread was very good. The second time I made it I added 1 small onion(1/2 medium size) to the dough then baked it. I added... an additional 3 minutes to the cooking time.Read more

Excellent Beer Bread, but depends on type of beer

Rated: 5 stars out of 5
This recipe is so easy! I ran out of the self-rising flour, so I used all-purpose flour and added baking power and baking... soda. This is a nice bread to accompany a soup or just having for breakfast with butter or jelly. It is dense, but that's the point of beer bread. It's similar to quick bread. The first time we made it, I used a Cherry Wheat beer and it was just good, you could taste the cherry flavor. This time, I used a blueberry lager (Wild Blue) and added a pint of blueberries (make sure to toss them in some flour). The bread is so delicous and moist!!! Experiment with different types of beer. This bread was very good, not excellent. Deffinitly east to prepare but to be honest I like more 'bread' to my bread.
