Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 sticks (12 tablespoons) butter, melted, plus a little more for greasing the pan
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 3/4 cups unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 10 mini chocolate-peanut candy bars, crumbled (about 1 1/2 cups), refrigerator cold (recommended: Snickers "fun size")

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Grease a 9 by 13-inch cake pan (aluminum is fine) with butter. Beat the 1 1/2 sticks butter and the sugar together in a large bowl until blended. Beat in the eggs 1 at a time, then stir in water and vanilla. Sprinkle the salt and baking powder over the mixture, then mix in. Do the same with the cocoa. Finally, stir in the flour until just blended.

Put the candy bars in a food processor or blender and pulse on low speed until all the bars have been reduced to a coarse crumble. Fold the crumble into the batter thoroughly. Scrape the batter into the prepared pan. Bake for about 30 minutes, until the center is set, the edges look a bit crusty, and the top of the brownies start to crack a little. Cool completely before cutting into squares.

    Yummmmm!

These brownies were so tasty, chewy, GOOD. I would suggest using parchment paper when baking these to prevent sticking. I... made these for my baby sisters summer class party, and her teacher pulled me to the side asking for the recipe :) Im going to also make them for this up coming football season to see how the guys like them!Read more

    So delicious!

This was my first time making brownies from scratch and they turned out great! The prep time took me a lot longer than the... time said, but it was fun! I buttered and sprayed the pan, and they came out smoothly, but they were quite crumbly. But they were so delicious and rich and moist! My advice is don't make the candy pieces too small, mine were a little too small and not very noticeable.Read more

    Easy, fudgy & delish

This recipe is a breeze to put together. I needed a recipe to use up my children's extra Halloween candy. I followed the... recipe almost to the letter except I put a mix of candy bars in mine. Kit Kat, Snickers, Twix & Hershey Bars. I cut them into small chunks & folded them into the final batter. They did not sink to the bottom - I think that is because the batter is a very thick batter and the candy bar chunks were very small and lightweight. I was worried about my brownies sticking because many reviewers mentioned that problem. I lined my 13x9 inch pan with heavy duty foil and sprayed it WELL with Pam. My brownies did not stick at all. I made a double recipe and spread the batter between my two 13x9 inch pans. The brownies actually come out to be quite thin - as in, not very tall - maybe I could have put the whole double recipe into one 13x9 inch pan? After I removed them from the oven, I made a nice chocolate icing and spread it on top. They look perfect and delicious. The edges have a nice crunch to them and the middle of the pan is very fudgy. I will definitely make this recipe again. I can imagine all of the other add ins that are possible - chocolate chips, toffee chips, oreo cookie bits, walnuts, etc.Read more
