I was searching FN and came across this recipe. For 2012 I decided to start preparing as much of my food as possible, to cut out a lot of prepared foods and preservatives, eat a lot healthier and to just save some money on food. I work from home and it's just me now, the kids are all grown up and on their own, I really wish I would have done things like this years ago. I have not made them yet but have read the reviews and it sounds like it will be very tasty, I look forward to putting a batch together and will keep all of your suggestions in mind. I had to give a rating before saving but I believe they will be worth the 4 stars!!

Substituted regular oats for quick cook, dates for figs (couldn't find them in store and hand-chopped almonds for walnuts. Froze them individually. At first the family was "eh" (dad & two teen girls, but they liked the health benefit and ate them all week. Very versatile. Now they're asking for more, with dried cranberries and a few mini dark chocolate chips. Making a double batch this time!

Very, very good. I used fresh figs cut into small pieces and stirred in after everything was combined.
Much better than any energy bar you could buy at the store.
