Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 cups whole natural almonds
  • 1 (8-ounce) package of cream cheese
  • 1/2 cup real mayonnaise
  • 3 crispy cooked bacon slices, crumbled
  • 1/2 teaspoon dill weed
  • Salt and pepper
  • 1 tablespoon chopped green onion
  • Sprigs, for garnish

Directions

Preheat oven to 300 degrees F.

Place and spread all the almonds on a cookie sheet or in a shallow pan, pushing the almonds around until they turn color, about 20 minutes.

Mix together the cream cheese and the mayonnaise. Add the bacon, salt and pepper, dill, and onion. Chill overnight.

On a serving platter, make 2 pine cone shapes with the cheese. Begin to press the almonds at a slight angle into the cheese, starting at the narrow end of the pine cone shape.

Do this in rows, continuing to overlap rows until all the cheese is covered. Garnish with fake sprigs, or real ones, or with rosemary.

Serve at room temperature and spread on crackers.

    Really Good

Rated: 5 stars out of 5
I really loved this cheese ball! I tweaked it a little like adding more bacon and some finely shredded chedder/jack cheese. I... also put shredded cheese around the outside instead of the whole almonds. If you put it in the freezer for about a half hour it is much easier to form. I will definitely make this again and it will be so easy to add other ingrediants to make diferent flavors. Wonderful.Read more

    Great Presentation

The cheese ball looked exactly like the picture, perfect for a Christmas appetizer. My only complaint would be the whole... almonds, they were a little big and not so easy to put on crackers. I ground up the left overs and used it as a pasta sauce, very tasty. However I don't think I would make it again, because of the whole almonds.Read more

    Just Ok

Rated: 2 stars out of 5
It looks great, and everyone was really impressed at how cool it its but when you taste it its bland. All I could really... taste was the cream cheese and like other reviews it was really soft and didn't form too well, I had chilled it overnight prior. Maybe with the garlic and parsley it would be better, or other ingredients, maybe more bacon or dill but it lacked flavor.Read more

Its ok but definitely needed to add other ingredients

Rated: 3 stars out of 5
I was disappointed that it was too soft but kinda figured it would be without any other cheese. I tasted it after it chilled... and thought it was bland then remembered Trish's comment to add garlic and parsley. I also added some grated parmesan and shredded cheddar. We liked it much better! Also, I had sliced almonds on hand so I toasted them, formed the cheese into a log and covered with the sliced almonds.Read more
