Ingredients

  • 2 cups plus 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 3/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 sticks unsalted butter, at room temperature
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup dark brown muscavado sugar
  • 1/3 cup light brown muscavado sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 1 (5-ounce) block semisweet chocolate, chopped into chunks (recommended: Callebaut)
  • 1 (5-ounce) block milk chocolate, chopped into chunks (recommended: Callebaut)

Directions

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F. Line baking sheet with parchment paper or silicon pads.

Whisk together the flour, salt and baking soda in a large bowl.

Place the butter in the bowl on an electric stand mixer fitted with paddle attachment and beat until smooth, about 1 minute. Add the sugars and continue mixing, scraping down the sides and bottom of the bowl until light and fluffy, about 2 minutes longer. Add the eggs, 1 at a time, and the vanilla extract, beating until incorporated.

Add half of the flour and mix until just incorporated. Add the remaining flour, again mixing until just combined. Remove the bowl from the stand and fold in the chocolate chunks.

Using a small ice cream scoop, spoon the dough onto a baking sheet, leaving at least 2 inches between each cookie and bake on the middle rack until the cookies are lightly golden brown and still soft in the middle, about 11 minutes. Let cookies rest for 2 minutes on the baking sheet before removing them to a baking rack with a wide metal spatula. Let the cookies cool on the baking rack for a few minutes before eating. Repeat with remaining dough.

    These are very good

Rated: 4 stars out of 5
I like crispy cookies so I wasn't put off by the texture, at all. As many of the reviewers, I substituted common ingredients... that I had on hand but stuck to the measurements. These are very good cookies. For the reviewer that had the cookies run all over the cookie sheet, try refrigerating the dough for a half hour before baking. Read more

    Not flat but good.

Rated: 4 stars out of 5
I read many of the comments before trying this recipe. I did have to deviate from the recipe slightly with semi-sweet... chocolate chips instead of chunks from a block, bread flour instead of all purpose, and store brand sugars. I used a cooking time of 11 minutes. My cookies didn't come out flat but they were good. Very easy recipe.Read more

    Horrible!

Rated: 2 stars out of 5
This recipe is terrible. The batter seemed fine before I baked them but the cookies ended up way too flat. My first batch was... also way overcooked because the batter spread so much. Half of my cookies spread into each other even though I used a large cookie sheet with 12 cookies. The cookies ended up too crunchy and not chewy at all like I prefer. It's like eating a cracker rather than a cookie. The taste is so-so. Read more

    Fantastic cookies!!!

Rated: 5 stars out of 5
I substituted the Callebut chocolate with Sharffenberger chocolate since I couldn't find it. I also added walnuts and this... recipe was soooo good. It was easy to follow and I plan on making them again!! Read more

First Time Making Chocolate Chip Cookies

Rated: 5 stars out of 5
I chose this recipe as my first ever attempt at making choc chip cookies after reading all the rave reviews. I changed the... recipe just slightly to use the ingredients which I had on hand. I used Nestle mini milk chocolate chip morsels in place of all the choc. types. I also used Splenda brown sugar blend in place of the light & dark brown sugars. Theses cookies were still awesome!!! I didn't have an ice cream scooper to lay the cookies on the cookie sheet, so I used a tablespoon measuring spoon. I did cook them for a minute less then the recipe called for but that could vary by oven, how soft you like your cookies, & how large your cookies are, which I tend to like them to softly give when bitten & not crunch. I baked them over about a week ago & stored them in a airtight container & they are still great! Read more

    Fabulous Cookies!!!!!

Rated: 5 stars out of 5
These are wonderful cookies!!!! I substituted the muscavado for regular brown sugars and used Heath bits for half the... chocolate. YUM!!! Maybe it was just my oven, but I only baked them for about 8 minutes. I scrapped the parchment paper when I dumped the first batch in the bottom of the oven - it slid off when I took the pan out. No need for a greased cookie sheet if it's Teflon, either. Took them to our season opening football tailgate, and EVERYONE wanted the recipe. Read more
