How to Cut Up a Pineapple

Cut juicy pineapple wedges at home with easy step-by-step instructions.

Instead of reaching for a presliced container of pineapple at the supermarket, take matters into your own hands. Though prickly and intimidating on the outside, a whole pineapple is easy to cut up into wedges –– especially with Rachael's step-by-step instructions.

Step 1
Quarter the pineapple lengthwise.

Step 2
Using a thin, sharp knife, cut core away from each quarter by making a shallow slice the length of the pineapple.

Step 3
Follow the skin of the pineapple and cut fruit away from it using your knife, keeping the green tops attached.

Step 4
Next, cut pineapple into 1/2-inch slices. Each pineapple quarter will now hold several wedges.

Step 5
Separate fruit by sliding wedges alternatively to the left and then to the right. Each completed pineapple serving will look like a boat filled with the fruit slices.
