Ingredients

  • 3 1/2 to 4 cups bread flour, plus more for rolling (Chef's Note: Using bread flour will give you a much crisper crust. If you can't find bread flour, you can substitute it with all-purpose flour which will give you a chewier crust.)
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 envelope instant dry yeast
  • 2 teaspoons kosher salt
  • 1 1/2 cups water, 110 degrees F
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil, plus 2 teaspoons

Directions

Combine the bread flour, sugar, yeast and kosher salt in the bowl of a stand mixer and combine. While the mixer is running, add the water and 2 tablespoons of the oil and beat until the dough forms into a ball. If the dough is sticky, add additional flour, 1 tablespoon at a time, until the dough comes together in a solid ball. If the dough is too dry, add additional water, 1 tablespoon at a time. Scrape the dough onto a lightly floured surface and gently knead into a smooth, firm ball.

Grease a large bowl with the remaining 2 teaspoons olive oil, add the dough, cover the bowl with plastic wrap and put it in a warm area to let it double in size, about 1 hour. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and divide it into 2 equal pieces. Cover each with a clean kitchen towel or plastic wrap and let them rest for 10 minutes.

I've made many many pizza doughs. This is my favorite
for doing on the pizza stone on the big green egg.
I like thin crust. I think you could divide this into three pizza
doughs instead of the two I did yesterday. Great crust!

My pizza dough always came out okay tasting. I lost that recipe and decided to google for one. Found this recipe and followed it to a T. My pizza has never tasted so good. There is only one thing that I will be changing the next time I make this. I will be adding some herbs and spices to the dough before kneeding it and forming it into a pizza shape. I didn't look any further once I saw Bobby's name. I've followed a few of his recipes and they are always a huge hit with my family and friends. Every time I see Bobby Flay's name on something, I am eager to try it, knowing that me and my family will love it. It is always a win with Bobby Flay.

I've been looking for an easy and reliable pizza dough recipe for years. I just doubled this recipe tonight and made 4 pizzas - one on the grill. It was easy and it didn't take forever to make. It also tasted delicious. We make pizzas once a week in my house. It will be my go-to recipe from here on out. Loved it. It's not wondr it is Bobby's recipe.
