  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon finely chopped fresh chives
  • Salt

Play with the ingredients first, this is a good basic recipe!

The first timem I made this recipe, I used the regular yogurt, lemon and a coarse Dijon mustard. It turned out a bit too... tangy and thin for my taste. HOWEVER, second go around, I did use the Greek Yogurt. I even let it sit in the strainer for a half hour to get it even thicker. I cut the lemon juice to 1 tsp, added 1/2 tsp dill, 1/2 tsp fresh black pepper and a mild, light colored Dijon mustard. This made the WORLD of difference to our taste buds! We now use this as a dressing and a dip. Give it a shot as a dipping sauce for the kid's chicken fingers and broccoli spears! Fabulous - so glad that I tweaked the recipe to fit my family's taste. Thanks Ellie for a great basic recipe to play with!!Read more

waste of time and good ingredients

Our family eats nearly everything, but not one of the seven of us liked the flavor of this dressing. I use only high quality... ingredients, so it isn't that- it was the combination of the lemon and mustard flavors that was the big loser.Read more

    Tasty Ranch Dressing

This was the best Ranch Dressing I have ever made. I cannot tolerate sodium well so store bought/restaurant dressings do not... work for me! Read more

    Fantastic and easy

This is SOOO good. I've been using this recipe for a couple of years now and it tastes way too good to be healthy. Good as a... dip also- use a little less buttermilk. I put dill in it as well. Awesome.Read more

    Excellent low-fat ranch

Rated: 5 stars out of 5
This is a wonderful lowfat ranch and I couldn't even use the buttermilk (which I know would have made it even better!)... because of a diet I'm on that restricts me from using hardly any carbs. I even made it with Walden Farms Mayo which has 0 cal, 0 carbs & 0 fat & this dressing has been a lifesaver for my husband and I. I can't wait to get off my diet and use low-fat mayo and buttermilk to make this! I also added dried chives and dried dill. I think anyone who doesn't like this recipe is lying and for some reason trying to ruin Ellie's review average, which is unfortunate, because If mine turned out great , given my restrictions, I just can't believe yours doesn't taste good. Also, lemons can vary greatly in sourness and if you don't buy greek yogurt, you're going to have to put the regular yogurt in a strainer and let it sit in the fridge over a bowl for a couple of hours to let it thicken - so don't blame Ellie for your mistakes!Read more

    Still too runny

Rated: 1 stars out of 5
I made a double batch of the dressing because of all the rave reviews on here- I'm not picky with dressings, but I really... didn't like it. Too much mustard and too much tang between the lemon, buttermilk and yogurt. I tossed my batch out.Read more
