Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 lime, zested
  • 1 lime wedge
  • 10 ounces cognac (recommended: Hennessy)
  • 4 ounces Triple Sec liqueur (recommended: Cointreau)
  • 4 ounces sweet and sour mix
  • 4 ounces Limoncello
  • 2 ounces lime juice
  • Ice

Directions

Chill 4 martini glasses. In a small shallow dish combine the sugar and the lime zest. Run the lime wedge around the rim of each glass. Dip in the sugar and zest mixture.

In a cocktail shaker mix the cognac, Triple Sec, sweet and sour mix, Limoncello, and lime juice over ice. Shake to chill.

Pour the Side Car Martinis into the glasses and serve immediately.

    Exquisite!

With a lot of cocktails, there's usually one taste that overpowers the drink, which isn't always a bad thing! However, I really could taste the lemoncello, the triple sec, even down to the freshness of the lime juice. A truly great drink. Read more

with the use of Limoncello instead of plain lemon juice. I'd like it to be noted that this is in no way a martini. Just... because you serve it in a martini glass doesn't make it a martini.Read more

I made this recipe over the weekend, and it was outstanding. A couple of notes: - Make your own sweet and sour mix to use in... this (4oz each of: water, sugar, lime juice and lemon juice). This will give you enough for 6 martinis and you can use the rest for lemonade! - You can make the full batch in advance and put it in the fridge until the guests arrive, then shake it up in batches and pourRead more

Incredible. Trial run for a party - no need to tweak. It rivals top shelf margaritas.
