Ingredients

  • 1 to 2 pounds chicken wings (about 12 whole wings) 1st and 2nd joint, no tips
  • 2 tablespoons canola oil, plus more for frying
  • 3 tablespoons grated ginger
  • 1/4 cup sherry
  • 1/4 cup white vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup chili garlic sauce
  • Chopped scallions, for garnish
  • 3 tablespoons sesame seeds, for garnish

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Place the chicken wings on a baking sheet and cook in the oven for 35 minutes.

In a medium saute pan over medium heat, add the 2 tablespoons of canola oil and the ginger. Cook for 2 minutes. Add the sherry, vinegar, sesame oil, honey, and soy sauce and chili garlic sauce and continue to cook for 2 more minutes. Remove from heat.

In large sauce pot or fryer, heat 3-inches of the canola oil, or enough to prevent wings from touching the bottom of the pan, to 350 degrees F. Add the chicken wings to the oil and cook for about 3 minutes, or until crispy and golden brown. Remove the chicken wings from the oil and drain on paper towels.

Add the wings to the sauce. Garnish with chopped scallions and sesame seeds.

i fried the wings a little longer and added a little more honey than the recipe calls for. They were delicious.

    One-way ticket to flavor town!

The flavor of these wings is perfection! The only modification I have made is that I bake my wings...we don't need the extra... fat of frying. I have made them too many times to count and they are ALWAYS a bit hit. THX Guy! Read more

Best meathod of cooking wings ever!

Rated: 5 stars out of 5
Easy with great, crunchy results. I would recommend parchment paper or tin foil under the wings while they're in the oven,... otherwise clean up is a hassle. I liked the sauce a lot as well, though it was a little spicy and was probably double what I needed for 2lbs wings. I added a bit more honey and some garlic and they tasted great. And for everyone that complains about calling these wings Korean, they have a lot of Korean ingredients and flavor combination, plus they taste great so why complain about a silly thing like a name?Read more

    Almost better than buffalo wings

Rated: 5 stars out of 5
Incredibly easy recipe that pays off with excellent results. Have made this several times. The only hassle is deep frying... the wings. Maybe some are like me and appreciate the traditional buffalo sauced wings but this is an excellent change of pace especially for a large party.Read more
