Ingredients

  • 1 small orange, chopped
  • 1 lime, chopped
  • 1 lemon, chopped
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 bottle cachaca (sugarcane brandy)
  • Ice
  • Fresh mint and lime slices for garnish
  • Fresh sugarcane sticks, for serving, optional

Directions

Place the pieces of citrus and the sugar in the bottom of a pitcher. Using a muddler or the handle of a wooden spoon, crush and mash the fruits to release the oils and juice from the rind. When you have some nice juice in there and the sugar begins to dissolve, add the liquor and stir to combine. Fill lowball glasses with ice cubes and pour the cocktail over the ice. Do not remove the pieces of crushed fruit. Garnish with mint and lime. Use fresh sugarcane sticks as stirrers, if desired.

I made these for a girls movie night... they were a huge hit! They are very strong I did cut mine with some lemon lime soda. Needless to say we all crawled home. Now they are a tradition for our girls nights.

I took the ingredients to a girls game night. They were a huge hit but very strong. In the end I cut the drink with some sprite and later fresca. We made several pitchers of these drinks and all crawled home. Loved it!

I never heard Ingrid say this was the original recipe. She said she was putting her own twist on it. Anyway, sounds delicious!
