Ingredients

  • Olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 1/2 pounds onion, sliced
  • 1 loaf French bread, sliced on into 1/2-inch slices
  • 2 cloves garlic, smashed
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper
  • 1/2 pound pulled pork
  • Barbecue sauce
  • Chives, sliced for garnish

Directions

Preheat the grill to high.

For Onions:

In a large saute pan over medium heat, add 2 tablespoons olive oil and butter to melt. Add the onions and saute, stirring constantly, until the onions are deep brown in color, about 20 minutes.

For Bruschetta:

Brush the bread slices with olive oil. Rub the garlic clove on the bread and season with salt and pepper. Place on the grill in a single layer and cook until golden and crisp then repeat on the other side. Remove from grill and let cool slightly.

To Serve:

Top each piece of toast with a heaping spoonful of pork. Top with a spoonful of onions. Place a dollop of barbecue sauce on top of the bruschetta and garnish with chives.

    Oh, Whatever Bev!

Rated: 4 stars out of 5
Honestly, is this what we've become people? Judging others for the way they speak? If she was from another country with a... thick accent that went back and forth with slang on their own show, would you judge that person also? Get over it Bev! Is it that you are just jealous because Mr. Neely chose her and not you to "heat" up the kitchen with every day? Or, maybe you are so critical of her because they seem to have a very loving relationship and family, and everyone else isn't as miserable as you? Whatever the case, here is my advice to you.... either press the mute button when she speaks or turn the channel! I personally enjoy watching the Neelys and think they put a unique spin on southern cuisine. This recipe looks like a great one to entertain freinds with, and I totally look forward to trying it out. The food is contrived

Rated: 1 stars out of 5
Perhaps the recipes would not be so bad if it were not for the fakeness of Gina. Sometimes it seems as she is making the... recipe up as she goes along. It really is a shame that she is part of the show. FN could keep the name of the show, remove her and replace her with one of his brothers. Tired of Gina not being able to speak English properly. GINA, you are the host of a FN show...You are not on on a corner in SWATS!! So gatha yoself up and speaks English. If anyone is insulted by this, don't be. That is what you listen to when you watch them. "We're gonna makes the best tas'n recipe you evah ate." Really? Is that the Queen's English Gina? Is it necessary to flip back and forth between English and street speak? Poor Pat... Would anyone like it if the people who report the news spoke that way? How about if our president spoke that way? Did anyone notice Gina's comment about having to work to be accepted by his family? You know the episode where she is completely passive aggressive toward Pat's mom regarding her short cake recipe?! Well, this is to the Neely family...First impressions are usually correct! you should have kicked the gold digging, manipulative, fake smiling, head bobbing, eye rolling, husband interrupting woman to the curb when ou had the chance.Read more

    Simple but great

I loved this recipe! I also love watching the Neely's. I feel the poor reviews are a way to sabotage the show as similar... people tried to discredit Sandra Lee. I'm not a fan of Sandra's so I quit watching her show but choose not to get involved in a smear campaign. Try skipping the Neely'S AND SPARING THE REST OF US!Read more

I was reading the reviews and found it quite disturbing how someone could make such immature and thoughtless remarks on The... Neely's and their show/recipes...but can not reveal their true identity but just calls him/herself "anonymous"...this person (and i use that term loosely) is probably scared because I would bet any amount of money if they taste one of their recipes...they would probably talk like them, walk like them and OMG look like them....lol....you are a big joke and you can write as many reviews as you want but face it....YOU ARE A BIG COWARD!!!!! I WILL PRAY FOR YOU BUT THAT PROBABLY WON'T HELP............................................................................... ***BY THE WAY DONT KNOW IF ANYONE DID THIS BUT I WILL BE MORE THAN HAPPY TO REPORT THIS USER TO FOODNETWORK***Read more

    Local Chef Rips Off Recipe!

Rated: 4 stars out of 5
I guess imitation is the highest form of flattery. I recently went to a food and beer pairing at a local bistro, and the chef... had totally ripped off this recipe as one of the appetizers. His was nice and spicy. It was the best part of the entire meal!Read more
