Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 cups cold whole milk
  • 1 (3.4-ounce) box vanilla instant pudding and pie filling mix
  • 1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract
  • 12 pre-made cupcakes baked from a cake mix
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 (12-ounce) package semisweet chocolate morsels
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar, sifted

Directions

Combine milk, instant pudding mix, and vanilla extract in a large bowl. Beat mixture with a hand mixer for 2 minutes, or until it thickens. Place mixture in refrigerator for 15 minutes. Spoon filling into a pastry bag fitted with a medium-size plain tip. Fill cupcakes with vanilla pudding filling by inserting tip into top of cupcake and squeezing a couple of tablespoons of filling into each cupcake.

Heat cream in a small heavy saucepan over medium heat until bubbles appear around the edges. Remove from heat, add chocolate morsels to pan, and whisk until smooth. Spoon or drizzle glaze over cupcakes, or dunk the tops into the glaze. Refrigerate until set, at least 1 hour, before serving. Sprinkle with powdered sugar.

I made these for an open house! What a hit ! I also made a chocolate lovers version by using a chocolate cupcake with... chocolate filling and chocolate icing. Everyone loved them , too! They are well worth the few extra steps it takes to make these cupcakes.Read more

I made these for my mom's birthday and she loved them!! i used twinkie pans (canoe pans) instead of cupcake pans which... worked out great (easier to fill) although i had a lot of chocolate sauce topping left over, so i made heart shaped candies which were awesome too! easy and fun! Thank you!Read more

I used cooked pudding instead of instant because that's what our family likes. I love Sandra and most of her recipes. Can't... understand why someone would watch her show again and again if they don't like her or her recipes, Pay no attention to Doug, Sandra, most of us appreciate you and enjoy your recipes.Read more

    Putrid Mess

My Boyfriend, FROM BOSTON, nearly vomited when he tried to force down one of these grotesque excuses for 'dessert.' He... absolutely LOVES boston creme pie, and I thought, "well, why not" when I came upon this recipe. I have since begun a thorough investigation of Sandra Lee's other 'super-simple' recipies, and have come to the realization that they are generally SUPER- SICKENING. Why is she on the air? I think it's like when you see a car accident...you are compelled to watch, if nothing else, just to see the corpse come out of the smoking car. Well Sandra, Mission accomplished!Read more
