You can create up to five timers

Ingredients

  • 1 (1 pound, 1.5 ounce) package dry sugar cookie mix (recommended: Betty Crocker)
  • 4 ounces cream cheese, softened and cut into pieces
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons cherry extract
  • 12 red or green candied cherries, halved

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

In the bowl of an electric mixer combine, the sugar cookie dough, cream cheese, eggs, and extract.

Fit a cookie press or resealable plastic bag with a star template or 3/4-inch star tip. Pipe dough in 2 1/2-inch lines, 2 inches apart on an un-greased cookie sheet. Press a cherry half at the base of each shell. Bake for 12 minutes, until brown on bottom and raw look is gone from tops.

    My husband loved these and they were a hit at Christmas dinner. The only thing I would change would be to add a bit more cherry extract.

    I used a double zip loc baggie (I don't own a pastry bag and it broke through the corner the first time, so I had to move the dough, then my fingernails broke through the bag cuz you have to squeeze like you're a linebacker to get the dough out. Not fun to make but tasted good.

    These worked fabulous at my last party. I used imitation butterscotch in the cookie and substituted a prune instead of cherry. Really made all the guests leave in a hurry, leaving plenty of "just me" time.
