I love a good mashup of flavors and dessert is a great place to start. This recipe is an easy way to stack the flavors and win a baking competition. Brownies topped with pecan pie vibes: perfection. Feel free to make blondies or add nuts to the brownies. These are great alone, topped with whipped cream or with ice cream.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Line an 11-by-7-inch baking pan with parchment paper. Bake regular brownies according to the back of the box instructions (not “cake like” or “fudgy” instructions). Allow the brownies to cool completely.
  2. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
  3. In a medium pot on medium-high heat, add the butter, brown sugar, corn syrup and a tiny pinch of salt. Bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer and cook until the brown sugar is no longer granulated, 2 to 3 minutes. Add the pecans and whiskey. Stir to coat, then remove from the heat.
  4. In a small bowl, whisk the eggs while spooning in a bit of the warm nut mixture until the eggs are warmed as well. Once the eggs are warmed, whisk everything together until combined in the bowl or place the eggs in the pot and heat everything while whisking constantly until just warmed through. Pour over the brownies evenly.
  5. Bake the brownies until the topping is set, 23 to 25 minutes. Let cool completely before slicing. Garnish with a sprinkle of salt.
