You'll need: 1 tall pumpkin (the more deformities, the better), dry-erase marker, serrated carving knife, power drill (with a spade bit), 2 orange carrots, 1 Japanese yam or purple carrot, broccoli florets, cauliflower florets, 2 gourds, 2 cucumbers, bamboo skewers, 2 pieces of ginger

Draw outlines for the eyes, nose, mouth and horns with a dry-erase marker. Draw the hairline in a small blob shape around the stem as shown (see step 3 for shape). Cut out the mouth with a serrated knife.

Drill holes for the eyes, nose and horns. Make sure the holes are slightly smaller than the vegetables you plan to insert. (Start small and gradually increase the size.)

Cut out the top with a serrated knife, following the blob pattern. Remove the seeds and guts.
