Ingredients

  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 cup diced onions
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 1 tablespoon crushed red pepper flakes
  • 1 large bunch collard greens, stemmed and sliced very thin
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 1 tablespoon kosher salt
  • 1 tablespoon cracked black pepper

Directions

Add the oil to a large saute pan over medium-high heat. Add onions, garlic and the red pepper flakes. Cook until slightly caramelized for about 2 to 3 minutes. Stir in the greens and toss well to wilt. Add the sugar and broth and toss together. Turn the heat down and cover. Cook until liquid is evaporated and greens become glazed, tossing occasionally, about 6 to 8 minutes. Season with salt and pepper and transfer to a serving bowl. Serve.

This recipe so good the flavors are awesome. I added a little sausage to the onion and garlic. Used extra homeade stock and simmered for 30-40 mins. My family ate a whole pot.. It is the best greens I have ever made.

Wow! Not only is this recipe easier than boiling, the flavor is really good. I am the crock pot queen, but the flavor is so strong yet balanced that I will take the time to cook them on the stove

Thanks Big Daddy! You knock another one out of the park!

What a fantastic recipe! I have made this a few times now. I can't believe how fast it is! I have tried it with bacon added and, of course, EVERYTHING is better with bacon but the recipe is great AS IS! The first time I made it was for a holiday meal and it almost didn't make it to the table...unofficial "taste testers" were hitting it hard. Wow...talking about it is making me want some now. Gotta go!
