    They were ok

Rated: 3 stars out of 5
They did come out light and fluffy but if you put the exact amount of flour it asks for and the liquid it comes out way too... thin, more like your going to make a cake than actual dough. So I had to add one more cup of flour which did finally form it into a dough but a VERY sticky dough. I also added lemon juice and extra sugar on the top, which by the way I also think the recipe could have asked for more sugar. I also substituted the cream for regular milk and added all butter instead of the extra shortening. Overall they were just ok.Read more

    Great with endless possibilities

Rated: 4 stars out of 5
Such a simple recipe I had self rising flour so I used it, I also used all butter Added a little orange zest and used a mix... of cherries, cranberries & blueberries I brushed cream on top before baking and sprinkled with raw sugar Loved the texture, could have used a little more flavor. I did not even use a rolling pin just flattend them out w/ my hands and cut them in triangles, no waste. The less you work the dough the better it is. Will make again --like the idea of soaking the dried fruit. And the person who said that she would rather go back to Starbusck -----bad idea these are much better Read more

Good and easy base recipe but directions aren't complete

Rated: 4 stars out of 5
Prior to trying out this recipe, I had never made scones before and only tried them twice. I followed the directions pretty... exactly but had to pull from my basic baking knowledge to fully complete the scones as a few pieces were missing. If you're a little lost, feel free to check out my blog for pictures AND helpful instructions/tips: http://pintsizebaker.blogspot.com/2009/11/baking-adventure-7.htmlRead more

Too Sticky, Instruction not very clear!

Rated: 3 stars out of 5
The ingredients are easy and pretty basic but the instructions of how to make it is not clear to a novice like me. When i was... done, the dough was so sticky, i have to put flour after flour after flour on the surface, my hand and on the dough itself because i couldn't even pick it up to put on the cookie sheet. Then when it was cooked, it wasn't buttery and dense enough like the review says. It's ok.... but Starbuck's scones are much much better tasting.Read more
